Skiing, skating and sky-diving coming to Cribbs Causeway, Bristol

Plans for AWW’s sports leisure development at Cribbs Causeway have been given the green light. South Gloucestershire Council’s development control committee unanimously voted to approve the scheme this week.

AWW developed the masterplan and planning application for this exciting new development, which comprises an ice rink, a sky-dive and ski centre, a hotel, a drive-thru coffee shop, retail, a restaurant and a car showroom. Our established relationship with developer Baylis Estates and previous knowledge of the site meant that we were well suited for the masterplan and planning application development.

Our key aim is to create a permeable layout that links the Filton Airfield site to the wider Cribbs Causeway network, complementing other attractions such as the Mall, the Wave and Wild Place to create somewhere that people can spend the whole day.

This will be the region’s first indoor sky-dive and ski centre: there are only three such facilities in the country. The scheme will also include a green corridor that enables future provision of the proposed pedestrian bridge to link to an expanded Mall Shopping Centre.

David Mace, Director at Baylis Estates, said: “The investment proposed will have an enormously positive impact, not just in terms of an economic contribution to the region, but also job creation and establishing state of the art leisure facilities for this fast-evolving part of the South West.”

David Perkin, AWW Director, said: “This is a first for the region and we are delighted to be supporting Baylis Estates in bringing this new sports leisure development to Bristol.”
