Planning, through a delegated decision, has just been approved for One Passage Street, which is destined to regenerate a corner of Bristol City Centre into a buzzing thoroughfare of public realm and commercial activity.

This build will offer a best-in-class workspace with BREEAM Outstanding, WELL Platinum, 3 Star Fitwel, EPC A, Nabers 5*, Smart Score, Soft Landing and Air Quality accreditations, plus Whole Life Cycle Net Carbon Zero (embodied and operational) credentials. One Passage Street will be a significant contributor in re-energising this urban landscape into a vibrant mixed use hub.

The building design itself is peeled back at different levels, creating a tiered effect. Both the change in texture from dense to sparse, as well as the distinct vertical lines pay homage to the movement of water featured around the building. The design also incorporates references to the Shot Tower architecture and location with vibrant activity alongside Bristol’s floating harbour. Evolving the design through stakeholder engagement the final look and feel has been heavily influenced by the surrounding context, seeking to positively contribute to the setting with a contemporary and balanced building.

The redevelopment of this site will encourage active journeys by creating a new environment and linking a new route to Bristol Temple Meads, Finzels Reach and beyond. The development’s active frontage, including a parklet loop around the café at ground floor, provides a welcoming and active environment.

Emma Wan, Lead Architect, continues; “We are delighted that planning has been achieved for One Passage Street, its exemplar sustainable design sets a new standard in developing NCZ (Net Carbon Zero) workspaces which positively contribute to the redevelopment of the city centre.”
