AWW has been identified in the Regenerative Architecture Index (RAI) 2024 as ‘one to watch’. This is validation of our progress and commitment to creating positive social and environmental impact through our projects, and in the way we operate as a business.

The RAI is a venture launched in September 2024 by Architects Declare and Architecture Today, as a way to share knowledge and support organisations advocating for urgent decarbonisation efforts.

AWW has made notable recent impacts in regenerative practice including leading the way in how social value is measured through design. Recent impacts include a substantial 7% reduction in crime rate within a mile radius of the Park Community Centre, the Mary Ward Centre’s significant social value impact and waste elimination through whole life cycle circular procurement, and the many Social Value Quality Mark actions including regenerative design research and supporting young and vulnerable people in our communities.

As Tim, our Head of Sustainability, aptly puts it, “Being recognised as ‘one to watch’ in the Regenerative Architecture Index is a testament to our mission to enhance lives and support our communities and natural systems. It acknowledges our progress in ESG commitments and highlights areas for growth, such as better engagement in urban ecosystem progress.”

The RAI represents a transformative shift in the architectural field, it encourages practices to embrace long-term thinking, circular economy principles, and regenerative design strategies.

AWW has been acknowledged in the key areas:

Being a Good Ancestor for our dedication to sharing research and knowledge through post-occupancy evaluations

Co-Evolving with Nature for supporting environmental initiatives and exceeding in biodiversity net gain targets

Creating a Just Space for Everyone for designing projects that promote community resilience and social value

We are grateful to be highlighted in these important categories, and will continue to improve our impact against this backdrop. Click here to read more about our ESG and social value commitments.
