Planning Granted for Quadrangle Refurbishment
Following close dialogue with Cheltenham Borough Council AWW has been awarded planning permission for the full refurbishment and façade remodelling of the Quadrangle in Cheltenham. Built in the early 1970s, The Quadrangle commands an enviable location in the historic Regency Spa town centre, sitting within Imperial Square and benefiting from views overlooking Imperial Gardens. Extensive engagement took place with local stakeholders and interested parties when developing this design proposal, which proved invaluable in working up the final solution.
Considerable thought was given to creating a flexible environment that would be able to accommodate and adjust to several diverse types of businesses, and the way in which companies look to occupy with an emphasis on well-being and the employee experience.
The building refurbishment also seeks to create a new rooftop extension; containing a restaurant space with linked external terrace. This contemporary extension sitting on top of the existing building structure proved a technical challenge but was an opportunity to create a dining destination within Cheltenham.
At ground level, the existing shop units will benefit from an improved external seating spaces creating active frontage along the Promenade, Imperial Square and Imperial Square Gardens. The above improvements presents a unique opportunity for our client to substantially upgrade the existing building and to create a destination with employment, café and dining, a truly mixed use approach.
