David Perkin

Director and Architect

“Together with like-minded people, we design modern, functional and dynamic spaces that work for everyone.”

Dave understands commercial constraints and the importance of the balance between quality and affordability. He looks at design and construction as a process and is always considering ways to make architecture better. He believes that good design need not be expensive.

The completion of the Desiderata office building in Lagos, Nigeria, was a landmark in AWW’s evolution, driven by Dave. The twin challenges of working in a foreign country and delivering an international-standard commercial office there required innovative thinking. It took the team out of their comfort zone, but they rose to the challenge and forged lasting friendships.

Dave takes a keen interest in the rapidly developing specialist accommodation market and he also works extensively in further education. Constraints in these sectors require innovative design solutions and he enjoys the challenge of overcoming these to deliver aspirational, high quality environments.

Overseeing the CPD programme and encouraging the development of all our people, Dave promotes a culture of knowledge sharing within the practice. Externally, he has for several years been a RIBA Part 3 examiner at the University of the West of England, encouraging students to achieve their final qualification and helping them develop into capable and confident young architects.
