Job title:       Accounts Assistant
Location:      Bristol
Start date:    Immediate
Hours:           37.5 per week
Reports to:  Finance Director and Finance Controller


  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • AAT qualified preferred, alternatively prior experience working in an accounts department in a similar role
  • Capable of supporting the Directors and Team Leaders
  • Working as part of a team 

Job role requirements:

  • Raise sales invoices for clients in line with Directors instructions
  • Perform regular, tactful credit control
  • Daily bank reconciliation
  • Assist with preparation of the Management Accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of prepayments and accruals
  • Deposit the company’s cash receipts at the bank
  • Prepare and reconcile quarterly VAT returns
  • Maintain and account for transactions in petty cash
  • Reconcile supplier statements
  • Post monthly journals to Sage
  • Collate monthly expenses schedule
  • Ensure that the company’s creditors are paid in accordance with credit terms
  • Take the ownership of the fixed asset register, reconcile to Sage and process depreciation
  • Process purchase invoices and company credit card transactions into Sage
  • Help compile year end audit file
  • Management of the pool car fleet
  • Using the company project management system (Rapport)
  • Adhoc analysis work for Directors and Financial Controller
  • HR admin support

Software packages:

  • Prior use of Sage advantageous
  • Microsoft applications including Excel
  • Inhouse training will be provided on company specific requirements
  • Flexibility provided for studying towards AAT or further accounting qualifications

Graduate Scheme

Some of our Directors are RIBA Part 3 examiners. We welcome applications from graduates with an excellent academic record. Strong communication and presentation skills as well as a talent and passion for design are key. Every possible opportunity and resource will be given to help you achieve your RIBA work placement requirements.

We will give you individual responsibility from the start and a sector Director will be your mentor. You will become involved in projects of varying scales and across a diverse range of sectors. AWW offers a wide range of training opportunities, regular in-house CPD sessions, and supports the achievement of professional qualifications.

We offer Part I and Part II placements in all our offices. We also offer an annual six week summer placement to students undertaking a BA Hons Architecture and Planning Part 1 RIBA and RTPI accredited course at UWE (University of the West of England). This is part of our ongoing commitment to support architectural education.
