Here’s a round up of projects under construction.

1. Cotham School – under construction
AWW developed designs for 12 additional classrooms, dining and meeting rooms for Cotham Secondary School. Cotham shares its facilities with Redland Green in central and northern Bristol, these additional facilities are to accommodate this expansion. This project is born of another successful collaboration between Skanska and AWW. Progress to date has seen the steel frame go up, windows, curtain wall and doors installed. The outer shell is to be installed next. Anticipated completion date is December 2018.

2. Brandon Yard – under construction 
AWW’s conservation, restoration and reuse of three listed buildings sits on the harbourside at the heart of the 19th century shipbuilding centre. This current project, known as Brandon Yard, is the sister site to Purifier House, previously developed by AWW. Once completed this development will comprise 58 one, two and three bedroom stylish and sustainable apartments. On site the listed building roofs are soon to be completed with internal partitions currently being fitted into the larger Block B and the new build lightweight steel frame is now on the 4th floor. Anticipated completion date is April 2019

3. Somerset Low Carbon Energy Hub – near completion
This three-phase programme to deliver a local centre of excellence is intended to attract nuclear and other low carbon energy supply businesses to locate in Somerset and the South West. Following AWW’s design development for this project we are now constructing a planning submission for an office / light industrial building on an adjacent site. The intended start on site for this being March 2019.

4. Caradog House – near completion
Caradog House project is converting a 1970’s office building into a 374-bed student residence, which will host a total of 383 students, in a mixture of individual and double studio rooms. The project will also contribute to the wider regeneration of the surrounding area and is close to completion. The first phase of occupation is underway.

5. Glassfields – on site
Our Structural Engineers are busy reworking the pile and foundation layout. The Glassfields site wide attenuation tank is in place, forming part of Bristol City Centre’s sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) which manages surface water to reduce the risk of flooding. Completion date: January 2020

6. Villiers Point – under construction 
Block A’s timber frame is almost complete, with Block B’s due to start soon. Block C is nearing its foundation pouring date. Completion date: August 2019
