AWW is supporting the initiative to transform Eastville Library, Bristol into a vibrant social community hub.

Eastville Library was the first library to be built after WW2. It was closed in March 2016 due to budget cuts. South Lockleaze & Purdown Neighbourhood Group C.I.C campaigned for the building to be transferred to the community. The old library is now being transformed into a 100% volunteer run, multi-use space that helps bring together people & families.

The vision is to provide activities and workshops, a community cafe, play area, edible & sensory garden, along with a community run book swap, computers and lounge space. A recent crowdfunder appeal undertaken by The Old Library was successful.

AWW donated a projector screen and computer equipment to this great grassroots project, which aims to be fully independent and self-sufficient in the long run.
