AWW was appointed by the University of Bath to seek full planning permission for the development of a new teaching and research building at the Claverton Campus, Bath. With over 15,000 students and around 2,600 staff, the university is a major part of the academic, economic and social structure of the City of Bath.
10 West provides a new centre of operations for the expanding Department of Psychology, and features a suite of purpose built laboratories alongside general teaching and research accommodation.
10 West is the pivotal gateway building on the western approach to the campus and offers stunning views over the World Heritage site of the City of Bath.
“Won through competition having demonstrated evidence of imaginative and quality design balanced against the need to provide a building which is both cost effective and functional, I am delighted AWW was selected to provide architectural design service for my alma mater”
"The building is fabulous! It is pleasant and spacious with a design that works very well in every area. The way the Charles worked with us enabled us to implement some ideas about how we think a department works optimally. One idea was the integration of academic staff, PhD students and research fellows. Today all these folk were walking and talking amongst each other and I am confident that this concept will really help us to establish a vibrant research culture.” Professor Bas Verplanken, Head of Department of Psychology
