In July 2010 AWW was appointed as Project Architect to aid with the delivery of a residential development in Newquay, Cornwall within close proximity to the town centre, and overlooking the picturesque Fistral Beach. The scheme was over 50% complete at the time of appointment as originally it was designed and constructed by another team, however due to the economic crisis the contractor ceased trading.
The unique aspect of working upon a scheme partially complete, whilst attempting to add value, meant that AWW had to liaise with planning authorities to verify changes and submit various applications, work to a rigid and agreed programme alongside the contractor and overcome difficult areas of detailing due to the need to establish what construction had been undertaken set against the aspirations, before finding the best solution.
“A stunning new development of luxury lifestyle apartments overlooking the UK’s most celebrated stretch of surf paradise: Fistral Bay.”

“Built on a solid reputation of delivering projects and overseeing them through construction alongside the projects, AWW was appointed to aid the new contractor in completing the work whilst also adding value where possible. This involved a full audit of the scheme and presenting new designs and configurations to provide more efficient internal apartments, greater use of space, altering apartment orientation and party walls to provide more accommodation with key attributes such as water aspect, and adding floor space through new extensions and external alterations. Coupled to this was the challenge of updating the external design which had lay dormant for five years with an enhanced appearance and setting.”
