Project Breakdown

A major redevelopment of the former Dingles department store, a well known and prominent landmark building on Queens Road, Clifton.

The accommodation is arranged behind the retained Grade II listed façades and comprised leisure use at basement level with retail use at ground and first floor.

The upper floors were converted to residential use with 88 apartments being created around a central covered courtyard. The residential element culminates with two penthouses, both of which have stunning views over Bristol and beyond.

Project Result

“Royal Parade was converted in 2003 from the Dingles Department Store into the stunning modern apartments you see today, it is located within yards of the famous local landmarks Wills Memorial tower, The Triangle and Berkeley Square.”

Director’s Quote

“It was with sadness that Bristol said farewell to department store Dingles but AWW was honoured to have been selected as the architects to refurbish this impressive period building located between the Triangle and Elmdale Road, Clifton, updating it to provide commercial retail and modern airy residential accommodation.”
