Project Breakdown

Set within Brighton marina, Hotel Seattle overlooks the sea through bobbing masts, with the background buzz from nearby restaurants. AWW Interior Design was given a brief to redefine this destination bar/ restaurant within the hotel itself, bringing it up to date with a glamorous interior.

Classic furniture and stylish finishes surround a striking bar and restaurant whose interior spaces extend onto the external deck. Glazed partitioning is used to differentiate the internal spaces. Clever video montage footage projected onto corridor walls leads guests up to reception – another form of ‘artwork’ that Swire Hotels are keen to incorporate into their collection of properties.

Most of the existing furniture and architecture was reused in some way, negating wastage and the need for new pieces to be bought or commissioned.

Project Result

“Bright, contemporary feel to both bedrooms and the spacious public areas. The look is IKEA-chic meets ocean-going liner, with curvy white walls, porthole lighting, mahogany recliners and excellent modern art.”

Louise Roddon, Travel Journalist, The Telegraph, May 2012

Director’s Quote

“Working with Swire Hotels was a joy. They had a plethora of classic furniture and artwork for us to ultilise and update to bring the hotel’s style out of the 80’s and into ‘today’. From initial concept ideas through to completion, the client allowed us to be as creative as we liked, whilst maintaining a functionality to the design that resulted in a really user-friendly yet glamorous hotel.”
