Project Breakdown

EC English commissioned AWW Interior Design to design and space plan the interiors for their latest language school in the UK. They are located within a corner building on Queen Square, one of the most historic areas in Bristol’s City Centre. The restrictions of the existing floor plate presented a challenge in terms of getting the numbers required into each classroom. An imaginative use of furniture, simple finishes and clever manifestations combined with the EC English corporate orange colour has resulted in an open and welcoming scheme, conducive to learning.

AWW also provided the contract administration role on the project, overseeing the contractor and liaising with the client to complete the project on time and with minimal disruption to the building’s other tenants.

Aside from utilising the existing spaces within an existing building, the existing windows and secondary glazing were repaired rather than replaced and furniture was sourced from sustainable companies.

Director’s Quote

“EC English had a clear vision of what they wanted the Bristol School to be and we enjoyed bringing that vision to life. Though the building’s floor plate presented a challenge, we relished it and have created a school that flows and functions extremely well given the number of students EC English has through their doors.”
