With hundreds of entries and ever increasing competition to be shortlisted, being selected as a finalist is a fantastic achievement, demonstrating cutting-edge construction and business approaches.

    • AWW is a finalist in this year’s sought-after AJ100 Employer of the Year Award. We are one of six practices selected nationally. The AJ100 award for the best employer, chosen from the companies listed in the annual rankings of the UK’s leading practices, is judged on staff satisfaction, workplace culture, benefits and staff turnover.

    • AWW is thrilled to be number 125 of the Building top 200 consultants and we have jumped 12 places to 57 in the top architects.

    • AWW is delighted to have won an Insider South West Property Award in the ‘Office Development of the Year’ category for our work on Imperial Tobacco. Completed in April 2013, Imperial Tobacco is the largest owner-occupied property constructed in Bristol for more than six years and the offices house 550 head office staff. The project, which has achieved a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’, is highly energy efficient with sustainability being at the heart of the scheme.

    • John is a founding director of AWW having joined the former partnership in 1984 and served as Practice Director until 2008. Though now officially retired, John will continue to share his architectural and masterplanning expertise with AWW on a consultancy basis.

    • Shortlisted for The Bridge House and Exchange developments on Surrey street which form an important part of the 20:20 Vision for Croydon’s regeneration. Located in the heart of the proposed Cultural Quarter, centred on reuse of a historic listed High-Victorian Pumping Station for leisure and residential use, both developments are aimed at meeting and complementing the aspirations of the Borough of Croydon to redevelop this area and make it a focus for artistic and heritage activities.

    • Highly Commended - : Christopher Thomas Court (Former Soap Works Old Bread Street)

    • AWW designed the infinity pool at The Cornwall Hotel, installed by Cheshire Wellness, which has just won the Gold Award for ‘Commercial Pool of the Year’ in the SPATA (Swimming Pool and Allied Trades Association) Awards 2011. The SPATA Awards are the only awards that take place for the national swimming Pool industry and receiving this award is a high honour.  The Cornwall Hotel was also entered into ‘Overall Pool of The Year’ and won the Gold award, thus picking up the highest accolade of the evening.

    • The BREEAM Further Education has been awarded to The College Ystrad Mynach. To win an award a building must excel in all environmental categories addressed by BREEAM - these are energy, materials, waste, water, ecology, pollution, transport, management, and health and wellbeing.

    • Christopher Thomas Court is the result of the development of the existing derelict Grade II listed buildings that form part of the Old Soap Works, Old Bread Street in Bristol City Centre. Works consisted of repairing and converting the two rare Bristol Byzantium 19th century Grade II listed buildings and adding two new six storey timber frame structures within the confined existing site boundary.
