Plans have been submitted for the residential redevelopment of the historic former home of the Redland School for Girls. The redevelopment includes the conservation, restoration and adaptive reuse of the grade II*-listed Redland Court and gate, the grade II-listed library and the locally listed hall.
AWW has carefully considered the site and existing buildings, providing a thoughtful design for the grade II* Main House and gate. The grade II listed library and the locally listed hall will be retained, carefully restored and converted to residential use, whilst preserving the character of the heritage asset.
The grounds of Redland Court will be sensitively remodelled to enhance the setting of the main house and give the new residents beautiful and usable amenity space. The view of the main house from Lover’s Walk will be enhanced by the removal of the 20th century additions and the unsightly tennis courts. The view from Woodstock Road will be preserved and glimpsed views to the site are proposed to improve the public’s visual connection to site.
The proposed scheme comprises 43 residential units of a variety of sizes across the site from individual occupancy one-bedroom flats up to larger four and five-bedroom family homes.
