The Watkin Jones Group has begun demolition to remove the Former Magistrates Court Building in Nelson Street which has blighted Bristol’s city centre landscape since the 1960s. The new building designed by AWW inspired environments will provide a purpose built 10 storey 348 bed student accommodation scheme with Ground Floor retail commercial units.

The site is the first to be regenerated as part of the 2006 approved council policy for wider investment and regeneration in the run-down Nelson Street area. Demolition is expected to continue until Christmas 2013 and the new building is due to open in the autumn of 2015.
