Education : Highbury College City Learning Centre
AWW Interior Design supported our architects in delivering this FE new build project, the first of two commissions for Highbury College. The CLC regenerated a brownfield site in the centre of Portsmouth, in the heart of the student quarter.
The 7 storey, 5,400m² building comprises 6 large teaching kitchens and an additional fully working kitchens serving a staff/student refectory (top floor) and a public access silver service restaurant (ground floor). The scheme also accommodated a number of IT facilities, a health and childcare facility, a dental suite with laboratory, a crèche and a number of general teaching classrooms.
Stella Mbubaegbu, Principal and Chief Executive said of the new facilities “In this building we have not just got bricks and mortar, we have got the feel of Highbury”.
