Relocation of the existing college campus to a brownfield site within Gloucester Docks. 20,500sqm of new build accommodation reflecting the varied activities of the college, and responding to the historic setting of the listed Grade I scheduled ancient monument, Llanthony Priory.
The building includes rainwater harvesting and has incorporated an exposed floor slab to some of the IT areas which is water chilled and replaces A/C in these areas.
The teaching areas, (the Construction section in particular) have been designed to be a flexible space and reflect the changing demand for particular skill sets. For example when first constructed, the area for Plumbing was by far the largest. This has subsequently been changed as the requirement for painting and decorating & brick laying have developed.
