The school uses has six separate pavilions opening on to a cloister around a secure courtyard play area. The ’heart’ building at he main entrance contains office functions of the school, the music and drama departments and the dining and assembly halls. Sports and technology are catered for in two of the pavilions which can be isolated from the rest of the school for use out of hours as community facilities. The design has a strong sustainable focus; using natural ventilation, daylighting and passive heat sinks to keep the energy usage of the building low, achieving a ‘very good ‘ BREEAM rating.
