YES!!!!! We've just been named AJ100 SW Practice of the Year for the second time running!
Great Western Hospital’s new state of the art birthing suite designed by AWW opened in March 2011. AWW was commissioned to convert an existing ward space on the second floor to create The White Horse Birth Centre, enabling women with low-risk pregnancies to give birth in a more relaxing, homely environment while still having professional support at hand.
The centre provides four new ‘home-from-home’ birthing rooms equipped to support natural labour, with birthing pools, slings and specialist couches, individual midwifery care and an aromatherapy and massage service on hand. The midwifery led unit has been designed with a separate identity from the maternity ward but is in close proximity to the specialist and emergency delivery facilities consultant-led obstetric unit if a patient needs medical care or pain relief. The Unit also has a family room with kitchen and dining room facilities, a quiet room and a post-natal recovery area.
