AWW completes SACO’s first lifestyle aparthotel in the City of London
Practical completion has been achieved at SACO The Cannon, an aparthotel in the City of London. The AWW designed complex creates an urban retreat in the city, where contemporary styling is matched with the trademark SACO hospitality.
The scheme comprises 77 studio and one bedroom serviced apartment suites arranged over six storeys in a remodelled inner city block. AWW has been working with SACO for over two and a half years to achieve planning and develop a detailed design to re-imagine the intricate group of buildings as a functional, welcoming place to stay.
Primarily a refurbishment project, some new build elements have been incorporated to help realise the layout. These include constructing a five storey link building and adding an additional storey atop two of the Victorian buildings on the site. The buildings were warehouses originally and have been converted from their recent uses as offices and connected together to create this facility.
Each apartment has been designed to offer guests a comfortable yet functional environment, while preserving the integrity of the period buildings in this part of the Queen Street Conservation area, overlooked by St Paul’s Cathedral. The scheme also incorporates a lounge, laundry, gym and 24hr reception to help guests make the most of their stay in the heart of the City of London.
